What is the best way to remove pesticides from plants before you put them in the chameleon's cage? Do the pesticides affect the soil? Also, what are the best types of plants or trees to put in a Panther chameleon's cage?
I wash the leaves (both sides) and the stems of the plant very well with water and run a lot of water through the soil. I cover the soil of the plant pot with stones that are too big for an adult chameleon to ingest to keep it from ingesting the soil (either accidentally or on purpose).
I always use non-toxic plants such as pothos or hibiscus in chameleon cages. Even if the chameleon is not likely to eat them its possible for the insects that you feed the chameleon to nibble on the plants if you free-range the insects in the cage.
