Lepord gecko is looking kind of thin....

Nationofme Mar 31, 2006 11:39 PM

hey, three years ago i got my lepord gecko and up till now i have not had any real problems with him. but as of late (the last two months) i don't think he has eaten a thing. he is still active and looks like he's on the healthy side of things. but he just does not eat the food i give him. Is this normal? or what ?

Check your cage temps if they are too cool, that could be why he's not eating. Also, if his tail is looking thin, then he is deffinitely loosing weight. Getting a fresh stool sample to a vet for a fecal to check for parasites would be a good ideal. Also, if you are always feeding the same kind of insects, he may be bored with them. Try some other kinds of insects such as silkworms, crickets (if you are feeding just mealworms, or try mealworms or superworms if feeding only crickets) or butterworms. Also, he may not be eating as much as he is older, and reached his full growth, meaning he doesn't need as much insects to grow as would young leopards.

Great thanks, I checked his temp. (its about 77 and going up as summer is a few months away), his tail looks Proportional to the rest of his body,so i guess il try giving him some different food. I already feed him Crickets and super worms, so uh.... where can i find silkworms or butterworms?

Some petstores may carry silkworms or you can order them online at: www.silkworms.ca
