I'm sorry, I don't know much about frogs or toads. You may have better luck on the frog and toad forum.

Chinese Firebelly newts are great, but be sure you know how to take care of them before you get them, as they're much more fragile then the species you have already.

Post some pictures of your animals sometime...I'd love to see them!

oh...and where in Canada are you? Spotteds aren't protected in their whole range I believe, so if you're not in Ontario you'd have to check with your local laws and such. Did you wild catch it yourself?

frogman2424 Aug 22, 2003 08:14 PM

the part of canada im from is ontario.no i diddnt wild catch it my self, my friend went up to the wuskoka and found that and a blue spotted salamander.he diddnt want to keep the spotted salamander so i asked if i could have it . im going to start posting pictures but i have to wait for my scaner.its coming in about 10 days.you told me to email you directly if i had any questions, whats your email address

I said you could email me if you needed help finding sources for animals.

You click on my profile name and it will allow you to email me directly from kingsnake. I don't like to give out my email address directly on pages for fear of spam bots picking it up.

Blue spotteds are protected as well, but as long as your friend has only one he's doing it legally.

im sorry for asking the email address on the forum. what is a spam bot.i need to find a site with care sheets on the red salamander and the hell bender salamander

sevenofthorns Aug 24, 2003 07:55 AM

A spam bot is a program that goes around and finds people's email addresses on sites and then sends them commercial emails saying buy this or visit this porn site and what not. It's called junk mail, or spam.

Just click on the link that is my name at the top of this message and it will allow you to email me through the kingsnake site.

You can find most caresheets you would need on www.caudata.org/caudatecentral/ and www.livingunderworld.com. You can also use the forums at www.caudata.org if neither site has a caresheet, since usually someone has worked with it before and can offer advice.

I must ask though, what species of salamander do you mean when you say red salamander? There are many species that could be called that, so a scientific name may help us focus down which you have.

And why do you want a hellbender caresheet? Those animals are terribly rare and require conditions that almost every private individual could not provide (space to live in and quantity of food). On top of that, I find it unlikly you would find one for sale. That is the main reason why a caresheet has not been written for them. I sincerely hope you are not considering getting one.
