Herping across Canada?

sevenofthorns Aug 27, 2003 01:37 PM

So does anyone go out herping for salamanders anywhere in Canada? I'm curious who does. I've searched in my area (Windsor, ON) but it's too polluted in most places to have them. If I go a bit out of the industrialized areas I may have more luck, but I usually can't do the 1 hour trip to go herping in the times of years that salamanders would be out.

I'd like to hear about other people's experiences though and see any photos they have taken.

Hey Rob,
I'll be honest I don't usually go specific hiking for salamaders. But, occasionally I will. When in the woods, and I see a good log, I sometimes lift it over to see what I can find. If I see a spider, I go ugghh, and quickly drop it,lol.

I've had success in Rondeau National park for redbacked salamders(I think thats what there called), aswell with in london, I've find redbacked(redlined) in a YMCA area. I've also found a red eft somewhere near, london, or in london... I can't remember..
