Screen top VS glass top

superdan Feb 12, 2004 06:47 PM

I purchased a ready made terrarium that came with a permanent screen top. Would anyone reccomend switching it to a glass top with an electric fan for ventilation? the biggest drawback i have for the screen top is that all the crickets like to hang out up there instead of staying down where my mantellas can eat them. I'm considering changing it. Any other suggestions would be great!

I would personally use a glass top, just because I find it impossible to keep the humidity high enough for frogs and geckos and the like with a screen top. I also read that the screen can damage the skin of these delicate animals. And if the food is hanging out there instead of within reach of your animals, then what further reason do you need? Make it a glass top! =)
