Suggestions for my fire belly's tail?

mrslhouse Jun 05, 2004 11:14 AM

I have a chinese fire-belly newt. Today I cleaned his tank and he has an open sore on his tail. It is a little bit bigger than the size of his eye. His tail appears healthy until half way down and there is the sore. I am going to go to the pet store and see if I can find any antibiotic tablets. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I can do to help my little guy out? Thanks.

What does "I cleaned his cage" consist of?Also what temp is the enclosure and what animals share it with him?
oh yeah, don't use fish meds on him.It may be something simple.

when I said cage I meant tank. I empty the majority of the dirty water and add fresh non-clorinated water. The tank is always between 60 and 70 degrees. I have a picture of his sore, I just can't figure out how to post it.
