Pixie frog dying?

HunnyDipt Sep 10, 2004 12:48 AM

Hi there. I just bought a juvenile pixie frog on August 8th. He was eating well and growing until around the 21st or so. Since then, he has stopped eating (I was feeding him superworms, crickets, and waxworms along with a couple goldfish) and has shrunk. He is very lethargic and hardly moves even when you pick him up, and his coloration has gotten darker. I have him in a 10 gallon aquarium and the substrate is that coconut husk stuff along with a 'pool' made of polyresin. I've made sure that all the water I give him is dechlorinated, etc. Please someone help! I don't think he is gonna last much longer. P.S. I am not looking for vet advice as some may tell me to do. Anyone that has experienced this would be helpful.

WHy not a herp vet?

In any case, from whatever started your frogs decline it sounds like it is beyond the point where any change in husbandry ect will bring it back.
Best opinion is to have a proper exam and diagnostics done but that's just me.

Hey there. Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, my frog died during the night I posted that message. I still don't know what it was that killed him because I did everything right as far as keeping a pixie frog goes. I am planning on getting another one in the future because I really love these frogs, so hopefully things won't go south next time. Thanks again for your advice.
