ReganZ24 Feb 16, 2005 11:05 AM

Hi,

ANyone here have put fish with newts?
I ahve a 40 gallon tnak, around 2.5 inches of water and 1/3 land.
I checked online for fish that will work Zebra Danois, White cloud minnows, Rams' honr tails and freshwater schrimp

Can someone tell me how it worke dout if you used fish with your Newts?

Also, how many fish would be okay with this size tank. I have 4 Newts

Thanks
Glenn

I have a large Tupperware container with 2 Japanese and 2 Chinese Fire-bellied newts, as well as 3 fire bellied toads. (with all required cage accessories) I was hoping for some fish as a ‘clean-up’ crew so I threw in a dozen feeder guppies. They have done perfectly fine. If one gets sick or ‘slow’ the newts clean them up fast enough, yet being guppies they always have some young swimming around ready to breed. So if you are looking for a simple and effective solution to your fish question, I’d say guppies. Note however, that I’d stray from the fancy fan-tailed designer breeds, they won’t be quick enough to avoid a hungry JFBN.

Hello from Brockville,

Well my gf has 2 fire belly newts in a 5 gallon tank. Also in that tank are a betta and a corey cat. Before that they were also in with swords and angel fish (that were small).
