Three legged Wood (?) Froglet found

nkbapbt Jul 02, 2006 11:23 PM

Hi,

I found a 3 legged what I believe is an Wood Frog(let) (from Northern Alberta) and I ended up taking him home (which in hind sight might not have been the wisest choice) but never the less he/she is now in a 10 gallon tank in my living room. So far he/she has been doing good. But I really have no idea (why bringing him/her home was probably a bad choice) how to properly care for her/him.

I need help! ASAP!

Thanks!

you can always release him back where you found him. I don't know alot about wood frogs but I do beleive they are more terrestial, living in the undrebrush near ponds so a mostly land based tank may work better for them than mostly aquatic. A basin of water should still be provided that is kept clean and is big enough for the frog to swim in. Keeping the rest of the tank damp or at least containing damp areas may be necessary as well.

I dont know what temps to keep the cage but my guess would be low to mid 70's. Small insects, fruitflies etc, should be eaten regularly by the wood frog. Online research will give more information on how to properly care for wood frogs.
