I came back from vacation today and found some baby garters in my garter snake enclosure. I released them on my property and went back to search for more. I collected about four more when I noticed one that was still in the clear sac. This was the first time I bred any snakes so I didn’t know what it was. All the other garters were there for a couple days and I thought this was one of them. But I now believe it might have been a new clutch from today. But I saw the snake moving and decided to help the little guy out. I open up the sac and tried to avoid the yellow food sac and gently pull him out. Unfortunately he had only half a head. Sadly, he is now sitting relatively still and I’m pretty sure he is dead or will be soon. What happened? What did I do? What should I do next time? Thanks

I have him in a deli container on some damp cloth. He still has the yellow food sac attached. He only has a partially formed head. I took him out of the clear birthing sac. Will he make it? Thanks.

Wish someone would answer this I am interested to hear what happened. Sorry I cannot give any advice. One may think putting the little guy down would be the best turn of events but I just don’t know.
