RED DEER ADVOCATE (Alberta) 16 August 04 Snake top draw at reptile show
Snakes just keep getting bigger at Red Deer's annual Reptile Show and Sale.
A six-metre (20-foot) reticulated python from Saskatchewan will be largest snake yet at the fourth annual reptile show taking place at Westerner Park's Parkland Pavilion on Aug. 28 and 29.
The doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $4 per person. Children six and younger will be admitted free of charge.
It will be the first year that exhibitors from as far away as Ottawa and Toronto will set up displays, said show organizer Walter Pacholko.
A total of 53 exhibitors will be in Red Deer from Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta.
"For people who want information, it is the place to be," Pacholko said.
Baby alligators, large turtles and many rare and exotic reptiles will be at the show.
Some reptiles will be available to pose with visitors for photos. Airbrush tattoos will be available for the faint-of-heart.
An MP3 digital music player will be raffled off with proceeds going to the Medicine River Wildlife Centre. Tickets are $2 each.
