THE RECORD (Kitchener, Ontario) 08 August 05 Boa missing after break-in
A boa constrictor is on the loose in Cambridge.
The snake was discovered missing after a break-in on Todd Street on Friday night.
Police said they aren't sure if the thieves took the snake or if the creature slithered away on its own.
Bonnie Deekon of the Cambridge Humane Society said the snake presents minimal danger.
At about 1.2 metres (four feet) long, the boat constrictor is small. It can go a month or more without eating, Deekon said, and it had been fed within a week of its disappearance.
Still, a cat or small dog could face danger. There is also some potential that a small child could be hurt, although Deekon stressed the likelihood was extremely low.
Police warn people to stay away from the snake if they spot it and call police, animal control or the humane society.
