EDMONTON SUN (Alberta) 19 December 06 Heat Lamp Started Fire
A fire that killed six pets in a south-side townhouse last week was caused by a lamp being used to heat a reptile cage, say investigators.
At 10:59 a.m. last Thursday, firefighters were called to a blaze in the Huntington Hills condo complex near 104A Street and 46 Avenue.
No humans were home at the time of the $80,000 fire. A cat, a dog, two snakes and two lizards perished. One dog was the sole survivor of the group.
Lieut. Shayne Page said a lamp being used to keep the reptiles warm in their cages ignited some combustible material, starting the fire.
