Veiled Chameleon Casque damage

Hi everybody,

I have a male Yemen/veiled chameleon, he is approx 1 year old. A few months ago the top / tip of his casque started to 'dry out' and eventually came off ( I stil have it, it is just like a piece of sloughed skin). Now the top of his casque is rounded off rather than pointed.

Aside from this he has exibited no signs of any illness and it left no wound.

I have asked in a few 'specialist' shops and only seem to get blank looks, has anyone else heard of anything like this.
