a suggestion...

Kate_and_Bubbles Aug 14, 2005 10:39 AM

Hey Lisa
I came across your message, and my dad had a conclusion that maybe your male Hermanns Tortoise being sexually active would like to meet my female Hermanns Tortoise.
My tortoise was abandoned and we found her in bad shape. She is fit and happy today just seeking a mate. She is the only tortoise that we have; I think she may be confused as she hasn't seen a tortoise of her own type. She chases after our cats and tried to eat our snake.
It is just a suggestion for them to meet, it is totally your decision, and I will respect what you decide.
I just live 20 minutes from London in Surrey. This is my email address if you are interested: s_a_babe@hotmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Kate, thanks for your Dads suggestion but I want my tortoise not to be sexually active, if I give him a taste of it he may want more and that would defeat the object don't you think. Anyway he's far too young to fertilise any female tortoises so at the moment I'm looking for advice as to how to make him more calm etc. Thanks anyway. All the best Lisa

you cant put tortoises togther like that one may have a disease. i have a red footed female and i have just brought 2 more but you cant just put them togther you have to quarantine them for 6 weeks some people say up to 6 weeks but mine have been vet checked and wormed. please do not put your tortoise with another one it can catch a disease of another one.
