shedding with a RI

joshuwa Jan 08, 2007 05:30 PM

i just received a retic that has a respritory infection that i caught early, i have been treating this but i noticed today that it is going to shed, my question is, is it ok to raise the humidity in the cage for her to shed or do i keep it low because of the RI? thanx josh

I would recommend creating a humidity box. Raising the moisture level in the whole enclosure to a high level does not allow the animal to hydroregulate. I use large plastic containers lined with damp (not wet) sphagnum moss with an entrance. In my experiences, allowing hydroregulation has been a great way to prevent and treat respitory, fungal and bacterial infections. The boxes work great during ecdysis and I have had only complete sheds since I started using them. I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Nick
