Sick Snake

omerfriedman Jan 09, 2007 02:43 AM

I got a large adult JCP to breed to my female. When I got him, I put him in a large wooden tank with ceramic heating elements that used to house another snake. The other snake was a boa that always would coil around the lamp. When the new JCP moved in, he did the same, but i started noticing a blistering on his underside which resulted in the skin breaking and he now has this dark maroon scab in a few areas. I'm assuming that these are burns thats what it looks like. So i moved him out and applied ointment. the blistering turned into a full out shed which isn't completley over (he has skin all over his back). today i looked at him and his mouth was a bit open and upon closer examination he had bubbles coming out of his mouse. I figured it is an RI. So i have him in sort of a 'heat tank' at 90 degrees. Should I take him to the vet? Is there still a chance he will bree this season?

yeah, your snake probably has a Respritory Infection. and you should take him to the vet as soon as possible.
