my male beardie is about 2 months old and is mean as hell. when i tried to pick him up today he bit me. it was shocking but it didnt hurt. my question is can a bearded dragon bite hurt? what about when he is older?

Yes, it can hurt. Mine have accidentally drawn blood before when I was hand feeding. And that was w/o trying to be mean.
Hold your beardie whether he likes it or not. They are kind of like spoiled children at times. When you see him opening his mouth at you, stick a green in it for him to chomp. Don't pull your hand away or he will think his behavior works, and if you do, it has worked.

It feels like getting your finger squished by a pair of pliers with a ridged surface.

I was splitting up a fight between my 2 males and one bit me. It took a little skin off and my thumb was black and blue for a week.

That's the only time mine have bit me. I used to hold them a lot when they were little.

It can hurt, but don't worry, beardies can be like teenagers. They have like hormones, so when yur beardie gets older, it should mellow out. But even now, hold it so it doesn't get mean cause you never pick it up. Even if you want to wear gloves, anything to make you feel more comforatble, lol. Good luck.

My adult female bit me recently.
I was filling up her food dish, and she just grabbed me finger!
lol, it startled me more than anything cuz I'd never been bit b4, and she did get me kinda hard, but it didn't even break the skin or anything.
