Injuries During Breeding

magnus1028 Aug 09, 2003 05:14 PM

I placed my male crested with my femals to start breeding and I noticed last night that the male had his hemipenis(not sure)sticking out. I was not worried then, but today I noticed it was still out. Is this ok or should I be doing something.
Thanks

No that is not supposed to normally happen, your gecko now has a prolapse. You can try a home remedy of soaking him in saturated sugar water, which will draw out the excess fluid in the organ. If the problem does not correct itself in 24 hours you are going to need to make a vet appointment so he can tease it back in. Just make sure the area does not dry out otherwise the tissue will die and it out will have to removed. Best of Luck.
