mbk getting a little aggressive

heathn Jan 09, 2007 07:48 PM

Well, were do I start. I guess everyone here has seen the pics of my mbk so I won't bother anyone with those. It started about july when he went on a little fast, wouldn't eat for about 4 months. When he finally started back he was eating like crazy, attacking the mouse like crazy, like he used to. What gets me now is when I move my hand in front of his cage he is follwing me like I'm dinner. He is very calm out of the cage, but 'checks me out' when my hand gets within 3 ft. He is over 5 ft and eats 3 large mice once a week. It's not really a problem as he is still a really good snake, except for the 2 times he was at petco and lunged for a ball python and a carpet python. LOL the carpet was 2 ft longer than he was. Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

What is your kingsnake doing at "Petco" within striking range of not one,....but two different snakes, TWICE!!!!.....you must be trying to intentionally piss some owners off REAL bad!!

Well, I would not take my snakes even to the pet store I work at, because petstore animals tend to be dirty. Its amazing you see people bringing their 1000 dollar dogs in here with the people that bring in there parvo infested, flea ridden, crap dogs that they bring in once a month to get an 8 lb bag of food to last a whole month. I'm sorry, maybe your local pet store might be different, IE: the reptiles at this pet store are more healthy because I work there, and one other person that is into reptiles. But across the street you see your standard 85 frog varieties all in one tank, blah beardies with water dragons, they don't sell snakes because of "moral purposes" were is the morals in housing lots of species in one tank who's habitats are totally different. Well just my two cents glad your snake is doing ok.

You actually might want to think about rat pups/fuzzis,etc instead of 3 large mice could be he is hungry .

I wouldnt take him to petco who knows what he could catch there .
