It's amazing how variable this subspecies is.
He's a yearling female that I caught in the Las Vegas area in 2006:

that is an interesting specimen, did you keep it for future breeding? could turn out to be proven... anyways the GBs i see in eastern washington look much like the second pic, with a high contrast and very clean markings. I will have fresh pics after they emerge in spring

the patternless is really interesting and cool.
Sort of suboc looking,or even senticolis!!?? or maybe im losing the plot LOL

Wow. Those're great. All from the same locale, or different? The thing I love about Gophers esp. Great Basins is that, in certain areas where they are prevalent here in SoCal, you can find some in one locale that have certain pattern traits/colors, and you can go maybe 10-15 miles away from there and find others in a different locale that are completely different lookswise, but still the same ssp. I really like that patternless. What did you breed to get it? I saw a similarly colored DOR San Diego (but there were hints of red on the dorsum) here in Chatsworth, CA on the road up to Brown's Canyon. Wondering if they are a San Diego aberation naturally occuring in that area or some kid's escaped pet. Oh, man, if I can find a wild pair like that!!!
