depends on what you want... i use a company called ipower.com. a lot of people use godaddy, but i did a site for an artist who used their service, and hated how theirs was integrated.

the ipower starter plan is around $65 for 1 year, that includes domain name and hosting, but you have to know html or have an editor like dreamweaver or frontpage. They also have a pro plan that is around $100 bucks and has a cookie cutter self building system, i've not really used it, as I like to build my sites from the ground up. don't get caught up w/ the amount of space they offer you, i have riduclous amounts on my main host server, and use less than 3%, and that is running about 5 sites off of it, including a very busy message board.

also check out anthony capenetto, acreptiles.com, he did have some good deals on hosting and self design...not sure how his system works, or if he is still doing it, but quite a few folks have used him.

I know a lot of people don't have the extra cash around, so often times i'll trade work for goods...
