Hey everyone,

After looking at this forum for most of last night I decided to join as I find it to be very helpful, if not the most helpful I've come across. I recently adopted this guy from a Petco while I was on vacation. He and about 7 other Crested's were being adopted, the guy that worked in reptiles gave me a reason saying that they had gotten too big and no one wanted to buy them (very sad). If I had the time, resources and money I would have taken them all right then and there. I previously had a Crested gecko but I had lost him to impaction (mostly my fault) and I have a 5 year old leo. I was wondering if someone could tell me what morph he is and how much I could have paid for him if I would have purchased from a breeder.

Looks like a Harlequin, also looks more like a she than a he....

Well I actually thought it was a he because of the pouch at the base of the tail.

From the picture the bulge at the base of the tail looked very small.

It still could be a male.......but from the picture it looks to me more like a female.....and if it is indeed a female she'll be worth about twice as much!!!

What petco did you buy him/her from?? city? state?

It was actually in Johnstown, PA and I didn't even have to buy her she was up for adoption.

Adoption? so was it free or was there an adoption fee? if there was a fee, then they probably just wanted to get rid of it, fast.

There wasn't a fee but there was optional donations so I donated 2 dollars. The guy that worked in the reptile section seemed like he didn't want to give the one that I adopted, he was trying to "sell" me the other ones. But, I think this is the best one they had as far as personality and coloring.

Hey, I'm from Johnstown!!! I remember growing up that the only pet shop was "Gitlers" or something like that. And we would ice cubes in Hell before they gave anything away.

You were in the right place at the right time. Never heard of them adopting out their lizards before.

i'm new here as well. i work at a petco for my second job, and occasionally we do adopt animals out for one reason or another. i got to adopt a juvie that lost its tail but it's one of the most beautiful red/orange/yellow harlequin cresties i've ever seen, and has the sweetest/funniest personality. someday i'll post some pics.
