Light colored pastel het.... JOE ROLLO..

varanusaqua Jan 11, 2007 05:23 PM

When i first got her she had a mess of dark gray colors along with a light pink coral patterning coming through. Love her tail. Anyways, as you can see shes not so messy any more, seems like she gets brighter, more clean looking with each shed... either that or I'm just loosing my mind, very well could be. Normal? Good or bad for an albino project? Shes not as colorful as most pastels but she makes my TJ pastel het look like the darkest brown i've ever seen when next to it.. Joe, do you have that pic of her you had posted on the classifieds? I'd like to see it. ( you had her listed as "unique female pastel"

Yeah, i wanted to see the original pic because i remeber her being much darker, and i mean waaaay darker. Do all pastels get lighter by the shed? I thought that they were supposed to muddy up as they age? I'd love to get my hands on a european pastel with alot of color to breed her with, hopefully in the next 2-3 years, and im counting every second. Post that pic if you ever get the chance.
thanks

young boas gain color until they are about breeding age and size then they tend to darken up...your little girl look young, how old is she?...that pink is very likely to intensify as she grows...

Not sure of exact age, she has to be an 06 though. The pink was actually alot easier to see when i first got her because her dark colors made the bright pink really stand out. If i remeber correctly her dad was a coral, and i have heard that it takes some corals a while to fully express the trait. I got my fingers crossed.

so, in both cases you would tend to see more color as the animal matures, and then it could intensify or stay the same, but generally it doesn't fall back..

the pastel helps it lighten up as it matures, and then kind of stay that way... the snake may darken as a whole in shades, but you'll always have that light, clean basetone and the contrast and such.

pastel adults tend to look like nicer normal yearlings and subadults.. stay crisp, nice, pretty..
