Shedding Problems!!! Need Advice!!!

raingerjoe Jan 11, 2007 07:44 PM

My Crested is having trouble shedding at his digits.

I purchased/saved him from petco about a month ago were the problem originated. I've provided him with sphagnum moss hides that he doesn't use, and i spray the enclousure every day.

Just wondering if i should place him in a tupperware with a little warm water until the shed falls off.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I like your idea of putting him in warm water. Just be sure that it is very shallow and not to warm. "warm" to people is usually hot to reptiles.
Here's some more advice. I know that you saved your gecko from petco, and you probably got a good price for it, but petco is just going to get another reptile and most likely not care for it properly. It hard for me not to buy cresteds from them, but saving one gecko, will only support their reptile business.

I completely agree with you.... I've realized it's not worth the stress of seeing other young cresteds inappropriately housed.... Real Bummer!!!

Anyways the sub-adult male i rescued is definitely living large, and i hope to provide him with a better lifestlye.

I'm actually a boid breeder, and i'm totaly against what i've done but for some reason my heart got in the way of my logical actions.

It just hurts to see animals of all kinds deserve better, and not being able to make a difference.

I guess i just have to understand the greater picture and be an example.

Lesson learned.........Thank You.....

In the meantime i'll try what i do with boids, to better his situation..........

I'll keep you guys posted with the results.........

Thanks,

Jose..........
