Great Big Tiger Gal Eating a 60 lb Pig!!

HighEndHerpsInc Jan 11, 2007 08:41 PM

Howdy Gang,

I thought y'all might like to see what it looks like when one of our big tiger gals (about 21 feet) takes down a 60 pound pig. Here are some shots spanning from late last night and into the early morning hours. It took her about 3 hours to finish it. Please ignore where I had to "paint out" some "yucky stuff". Halfway through her meal the pig burst, she was squeezing it so durn tight and some internal "stuff" burst out of it. Out of a deep respect for youngsters and animal lovers alike I edited this gruesome stuff out of the shot.

Y'all Enjoy Now!

I don't know about that pardner, lol. Here's a picture of her taken last night after the meal was settled in and positioned well but prior to digestion. She may have been able to handle 5 or 10 more pounds, but this size meal is decent enough. We don't like to push our girls too hard.

Hi, cool pics. Do you always feed such large items? If so, any reason. Thanks.

No, we usually feed our girls 10 to 15 pound rabbits. We just let them have big meals every once in a while to shake up their diet and nutritional balance.

I got my new picture card today and thought I would try it out.

I recently received an email from a person saying that the above pictures were of a rabbit being consumed so I figured I should show one of the pigs before feeding it to one of our giant girls.

Here's a pic of one of the frozen/thawed pigs we feed to our big girls. We freeze them beforehand so as to kill any internal parasites the pigs might have had. This pig here is not the biggest we have fed off but it took everything I had to hold it up in front of me even though it's somewhat balanced on my left knee.

I'd have to say as wide as she had her mouth opened on the first pictures you showed, that would have had to be one giant easter bunny! Great pics, thanks for sharing.

You bet, I aim to please. Besides, what may be obvious to some might not be so obvious to others. When I went back and looked again at those first pics, after having received some criticism and voiced doubts as to whether it was really a rabbit and not a pig, looking at that pointy black ear, I could see where some folks might think that was a rabbit. Most especially if they had never before fed pigs to their snakes. So, no harm no foul. I completely understand where they were comin from.

Pigs in LA.??

You ever thought about going to the feeder market with them?

If I'm mistaken, I do apologize.

Hello. This is Tawni, David's wife. We do raise our own snake food which also includes mice and rats and chickens and rabbits. And although our rabbit and rat and pig colonies are all very extensive we have never considered marketing our snake food. As much as we would love to be able to help other herpers we never seem to have much beyond what we need ourselves. Even though our feeder colonies are always expanding, so are our snake colonies. So its a never ending cycle and we nearly never have any real surplus. Though, admittedly during breeding/egg laying season we do accumulate extra pigs which only the really big girls can eat.

Thank You
Tawni Beauchemin
