Kimberly rock monitor-egg bound update

kdhunter Jan 11, 2007 08:59 PM

Just an update to previous post of 'help I have eggs'.

After 30 hours in the nest burrow she came out, covered everything back up. She drank a little, and headed for the basking area. I excavated the nest site after a little while and recovered the rest of the eggs, total is now seven. All but one are full and white. In the last 24 hours she has not stopped eating and basking. She has put away several fist fulls of crickets, supers, a couple of fuzzy mice. I am so relieved!! She is now splitting time basking, exploring, and hunting, being a monitor.

I have received my incubator and the eggs are cooking at 84 to 84.5F, and in a 1 to 1 mix of perlite and water. Who knows if they will hatch, but I will try.

All seems well!!

Congrats things worked out. We'll keep our fingers crossed for those eggs. When you mixed 1.1, I assume you went by weight, as that's what you should do. Take care. And be on the lookout, as those kimberly's can cycle again quickly.
