I read on a breeders site that his males will loose interest in females after they ovulate. Has anyone else heard of this or witnessed the same thing.

I have unknowingly witnessed it i think i had two ball pythons in together at one time for a while and i think that the female became gravid quikly because i never seen them breed and after about a week he moved to another corner and stayed away from her. I dont know if that is why or not but thats what i seen. I also heard that it happens though.

Yup - after my female ovulated my male completely lost interest in her. Did his best to stay on the complete opposite side of the cage, in fact.

Makes sense, when you think about it. Why would a male invest energy (mating) in a female that is already producing eggs?

Not to mention females tend to get real crabby when they are pregnant.

Wait, we were refering to ball pythons, right??
