Trinkets not breeding...

Kestrel Jan 12, 2007 12:18 AM

Ok so, everyone has always told me Trinkets will breed like rabbits and do not require cooling to breed..

I bought my adult pair of trinkets in October.. The female is proven, the male is at least 1.5 years old. I see NO ACTION between them what so ever. However the male is not eating, while the female will eat anything, anytime. I've pulled the male out and reintroduced him a couple times now.. Nothin. *sigh* Maybe they're just very secretive about it? With most of the other colubrids i've bred, the male is hooked up with the female within 10 minutes, if not faster. lol Should I cool these guys, see if I get a better response?

I would try cooling the male at least since he's not eating and see if it gives him a kick start. It could be that he's just not mature yet. Good luck. Randy W.

I wouldn't cool the female since you can't be sure that they didn't breed and if she were to be gravid, cooling her could be bad news as you know. Randy
