sister wants a reptile but can't find the one right for her

grouchyrocker87 Aug 09, 2003 07:22 PM

my sister wants to get a lizard. she wants a lizard that she doesnt have to feed crickets to. her specifications are no crickets, not too big, not too hard to care for, docile, fairly inexpensive. she has said that she doesnt want a leopard gecko or uro and those were the only ones i could think of that fit her needs! can anyone help?

What does she want to feed it, then?

IF SHE CANNOT DEAL WITH MEALWORMS AND CRICKETS THEN SHE SHOULD DEFINETLY NOT BE GETTING A REPTILE.

Thats sickening that you're sister wants a herp but does'nt want to feed it harmless insects that she does'nt have to even touch.

This is grouchyrockers sister. I can handle feeding mealworms, superworms, wax worms, worms, and silkworms, but i can't feed crickets. I hate the smeel of them and I can't stand them at all!!

You can't buy a bag of crickets and put them in a cage?

i a groughyrockers sister. Yes, I can but a bag of crickets i, I just don't want to have to spend the time cleaning a cricket cage twice a week. I also will feed my lizard meal worms, wax worms, veggies, and super worms. What kind of lizards don't eat crickets as their main diet so I don't have to but crickets everytime I feed him (crickets once or every other week would be nice)??? Please help!!

You should only get the amount of crickets you need at the time. Whether it's 5 or 6, whatever. For example go to the pet store on monday and get some crickets. Then on saturday get some more. Just go to the pet shop every 5 days or so. During the period that you don't have cricketes feed it fruit mealworms and wax worms.

You could try a Bearded Dragon, the can be fed a diet of mostly superworms and mealworms with veggies and crickets sometimes. I have 4 of these guys and they all love to just sit on my shoulder.

Bearded Dragon might be a very good option. Just don't forget how large they get - about 2 feet! Rather larger than the Anoles on this forum.

I figured she probobly wanted something she could handle also, an anole doesn't tolerate handling almost at all. But a Bearded Dragon could care less.

Get a boa, they don't eat crickets! Instead you can feed them ferrets! I know, I know, I'm a genius! I mean, who cares about ferrets? They smell, they look ugly, and they'd make good snake food! Try it!
