Destiny was such a good girl!

PHRatz Jan 12, 2007 09:55 AM

On Christmas Eve a big wind blew up that the Weather Channel & all the locals missed.. it wasn't supposed to happen but it did.
That pretty much did in our roof so yesterday the roofers got here & spent the whole day working on a new one for us.

Late in the afternoon Destiny came out of her house to graze & of course these guys HAD to go look at her because they'd never seen anything like her.
One guy looks really young.. like he's somewhere between 18- 21 years old. He petted her, he was just thrilled with her.

She did something I've never seen her do before with a stranger.. she didn't try to get away from him. She walked around his legs like a cat.. she's only done that with me or DH in the past.
She must've decided she liked this guy. I thought.. how interesting is that?
I've always believed that if my dog takes an instant disliking to a person then the dog has a good reason for it & visa-versa if the dog likes them they must be ok.
I wonder if the same holds true for tortoises?

My turtles have "personality" but honestly it's nothing like the tortoise. I wonder sometimes is it because she's bigger so she has a bigger brain? She's soooo darn smart!
Even though as she gets larger & sometimes she's more difficult to deal with because of her weight.. she's just the best pet!

My 13 inch male is like that with women. He's real shy around men, even with me much of the time. I like to take him to the park, and with women, he's very friendly! He'll stick his head way out and let them pet his neck and head, and he'll sit right there. It's crazy! I've heard male iguanas can differentiate between men and women, and it looks like "Tito" can too!

Iguanas do know the diff & actually I think ALL animals know, I'm not surprised that Tito can tell.
Birds & mammals always know the difference so why not reptiles?

I think the reason why we tend to be surprised by what reptiles know when we realize they know has to do with them not being able to change facial expressions very much. You really have to know their eyes & body language to have a clue about what they're thinking.
Same with birds actually not very easy for them to change a facial expression.. you have to know the eyes of your own bird.

So that makes me wonder lol for men is a sulcata the new way to meet women just like puppies & babies are a way?

I live in a large metropolitan area so there are lots of women at the park. A lot of good lookers like to check out my tortoise, "Tito". However, I'm already married so I can't do anything.

Oh ok so then watch out for your single friends or relatives asking you to borrow Tito for short periods of time LOL!
