Well, back to the vet last night. Cyrus eye trouble is in its 3rd month with still no other symptoms. The lubricating eye drops gave him very temporary relief. We decided to take another look and Dr. N. "shot" saline into it to try and loosen anything. He did feel that the conjunctiva seemed a bit inflamed and cloudy but said it could just be from his rubbing and there is no infection and said it was safe to give him steroids. He gave me Neo-Poly-Dex (Neomycin, Polymixin B Sulfates & Dexamethasone) to give several times a day for 5 days. Anyone have experience with this? Steroids always make me nervous but I have seen them do amazing things for some of my animals and even for me.
It's so weird b/c when it is open and "working" it is fine. We had originally planned on anesthetizing so he could really take a look around, but decided to try this first - fin with me! Neither of us want to got the anesthesia route unless really necessary. My fear has been that he will do damage from all the rubbing and stretching.
Funny, the tip of his nose and that one eye (the bad one) is shedding! Like Luna, he will sit under his dripper and just let the water flood his face! Maybe its me and how I get them drinking early on.
Anyway, just wanted to update as I have not been on forums much. Here he is peeking out from his plant during a shower
