Hello
it is real cold with the wind chill it's -26 below. We have about a foot of snow and still coming down. I had to move snow away from the outside iguana house's to get inside to feed today. The house's are staying around 71 deg inside so were doing ok. I will post some outside pictures this weekend.

Were having a rare 40 degree day today, and I saw the cycluras crawl through the catdoor outside for about 5 to 10 minutes of sun and to get a drink, then scooted back into their shed. Doors get locked shut tonight.

Its 80 here. My Iguanas were out all day long. LMAO.....

We're all jealous. I like the pipes leading into the hide boxes. Lots of furniture to make the iguanas feel secure, nice set up.

Thanks, They love to crawl into or sit on top and bake on the ductile iron pipe. They also have their hide chamber to retreat to under ground. I just changed the space heaters and installed Kane heat mats in them for when it drops below 50 deg.

Hope nobody's pissed for the remarks. I know it's expensive to house cycluras in doors. I'd hate to be the one paying the light bill. You all can laugh next time I've got a hurricane coming. LoL

Nice hide box, heat pads would be alot safer, provided the iggies have an area in the box off the pads. You might consider wrapping electric tape around the socket areas to reduce the risk of electric shock for the heat pad cords. I Had a similus roaming my yard in S.Cal for several years. He survived by hanging out in the black storm drain pipe that got alot hotter than the local temps.

Manny you should really have a more naturalistic cage like mine.

Did you finally put in the marble? Or was it granite?

Yuo got a good set up, easy to clean. In my case, Thank God for them Dung Bettles...

In california, the pill bugs do the cleaning.

jf Jan 15, 2007 01:47 PM

I'm in Cali and I do it, How do I contact those pill bugs?

Mark M Jan 15, 2007 11:44 PM

Ditto my friend. In my california, I do the cleaning (lol)

rhino5 Jan 16, 2007 10:27 AM

It might be a S.Cal thing only, and it does not excuse anyone from sanitary duty, but the pill bugs in so cal do assist with the breakdown of fecal droppings.

Aside from my duty of cleaning DUTY, It is amazing what Dung Beetles do. They burry the crap before I can get to it and then the grass grows great. The beetles are cool looking too. They are metalic green and orange in color. I think the iguanas pick them off sometimes too. "We recycle here in Miami!!" lol
