Thanks for the info. Those post ocular stripes may not provide an exact origin, but it is still a neat concept...
About my green: unfortunately I don't know much. He came from a private breeder (importer?) in Florida. I imagine that he was captive born, not bred, considering several red flags. The purchase price was low, $150 including the shipping. He arrived covered with more than 50 water blisters, and refused anything except goldfish for over 2 months. Thankfully, all the blisters came off perfectly with his first shed, and he is now eating pinkie rats. He has nearly doubled his weight and is an absolute sweetheart, he has never bitten or musked.
Now that I know what to watch out for, I'll be very careful the next time I consider purchasing a 'bargain' reptile sight unseen. I guess the price of the anaconda should have warned me, but this was my first reptile purchased through the mail...
I am just very glad that he is doing so well considering how he arrived 6 months ago.
