i have two firebellied toads and just recently they have been mating so im not sure if that might be whats wrong . but yesterday the one i think is the girl climbed out of the water and shes stopped moving, i know shes alive but she wont move or eat. and one of her back legs is swollen and discolored. if anyone has any idea what could be wrong please help im afraid she might die . thank you for any help.

These toads are usually very active and alert...and when I get close they would jump away. Your fbt might be sick...I would isolate the sick one so not to spread the illness to the other one. Take it to a exotic vets and have him looked at and treated.

well the toad died the same night i posted the message. the other animals seem fine to but i just want to find out what happened so that if one of my other animals get sick i might be able to help them. so if anyone knows what may have caused that please tell me thanks.

Well it could have gotten red leg or what it sounds me to what happened was that it got injured in a fight over food with the other FBT. I am sure that you have seen them jump at one another when the other sees the other eating. Atleast mine FBT's always lunge at the other when they see eachother eating. Matter of fact I saw the larger one chump down on the smaller ones leg once when they were both feeding WHICH may be the case in what happen here. My smallere one of the two ALWAYS lunges at the bigger one if he happens to leap near and land to where the smaller one is sitting. I would guess from the swelling of one leg it got into a fight and it got severe damage to its leg and that was part if why it died.
