How are you keeping the egg carton fresh? If those are what they look like... or are they plastic or something? I would think after a misting or two the paperboard would disintegrate or mold, but boy does that offer a lot of cover for little cresteds, my chubby one would never be able to squeeze into it though!

I have been using eggcrates for many years now I love them. What is really nice about them is that when they get messy (sometimes after a couple of months - depending on number of cresteds in cage) you can just throw them out and replace them (cheap). Also, they pull the moisture from the the fecals, which is good for the animal. I get mine from eggcartons.com and I am very pleased with their product. You can usually get them soaked while misting (especially if they are off the ground) and they will completely dry over the course of a day. Sometimes you have to be worried about mold if they are on the substrate. If so just throw them away .

I like the floor space in your enclosure, Where did you get the wire screen to hold up all those egg crates???

I borrowed this designed from Repashy. The wire is 2" x 3' plastic coated fencing. It can be found in most hardware stores usually in the lumber section or the garden section. It cost like $25 for 50 ft (I may be off on footage). I have most of it left over because making the shelves uses little material. I love the amount of floor space it gives for the food bowls and for the nest box. It works perfectly.

As mentioned below, they last a long time and they dry up real fast, very absorbent and provides lots of hides. Plus they're Real cheap.....I still don't have any adults that are too big for the spaces between the cartons. I guess i'll have to figure something out when they get to that size...
