I walked into the pet shop yesterday to buy a Kuhli Loach for my fish tank (I hate Snails, but thats a whole other rant), and they had a gorgeous baby brooksi that was about the size of a pencil, if that, that they knew nothing about... Now, I'm usually fairly happy with this place when it comes to their fish, and their puppies... but to be selling snakes and not have someone there that knows what they're talkin about just irritates me...

So when I mentioned that I have Spot, all of a sudden I'm gettin bombarded with questions... So naturally, I'm in my element, feelin all important and so forth... and all along wishin I had $300 bucks to drag home that Brooksi and the 5 y/o cal king that they got from someone who moved and couldn't keep it... and all the stuff to keep them cozy... but you all know how it goes... wish in one hand, [bleep] in the other, see which one fills up faster... Someday I'll have enough money and space for all the pets i want...

But I did get a kick out of the one girl that works there... Terrified of this little baby brooksi because he strikes at her, but the 5 foot long cal wasn't a problem for her... I just hope she didn't realize I was laughing at her, not with her....

I need to get some sleep... I'm keepin myself awake by fillin up the forum with random rants today....

$300 for a brooksi and a cal king?!? What the?!?

they wanted 85 for the little brooksi and 100 for the cal... and then till i bought new tanks and heaters and screens and... I'd probly have more then that in it... thats why I love reptile shows....

was it normal or hypo.
40 bucks for a normal corn at my local petstore, stores destroy people with prices cause they have to make a profit.

they were both normal... beautiful snakes, but not for what they're askin for them...

Those prices aren't too bad for a pet shop.
$100 for a normal adult Cal is about right.
The brooksi - I guess it all depends. I'd pay that much from the right breeder with the right parents and feel good about it.

Yeah, but only knowing he came from a reptile show and not knowin anything other then that about him... they couldn't even tell me how well he was eating...

I personally don't like buying anything from pet shops, but that has more to do with the fact that theres only 2 petshops within a reasonable driving distance and neither one knows much of anything about reptiles... I run into the same problem with vets... If theres a problem with Spot I have to plan an entire day around a 3 hour drive to take him to a vet that knows anything...
