Male to Female Introduction for mice.

jonellopez Jan 13, 2007 02:28 PM

Hi everyone,

I've had some experience on breeding mice but I just want some insights and opinions. I'm aware of stablished females being aggressive with a new young male if it was introduced into the breeding group. But I was wondering if the opposite (older male to younger females) would work out. I have been raising up some females from another group to start another breeding group and I'm considering using a breeding male to this young group of females for outcrossing. I'm curious if the males' age, size and dominance(hopefully) would eliminate the females' aggression agaist him. Also, he is 2 months older than the females. Would this affect his and the females' productivity? How long do you think can this male mouse breed effectively to these younger females? Thanks in advance for the info.

I havnt bred mice for over a year but when I did I never worried about which mouse was older or whatever...I just tossed em together and they did the deed.
