I have used peat moss with a variety of snakes, including n.pines and I found that when it dries out it gets really dusty. It didn't really work out and I no longer use it.Right now I keep all my pines on newspaper or dust free pine shavings. The ones that are on paper,I give them a hide box with damp[not wet] cypress mulch. Both substrates seem to work well. Hope this helps Grant
