Need some pics of enclosures

Kicksome123 Jan 13, 2007 05:41 PM

Hi, I need to see some pics of all of yalls adult enclosures. I have a 10 gallon for the special snake im buying soon, but I think the snake needs bigger so im upgrading to a 30 gallon(my BP that I gave away outgrew it) I just wanted to see what kinda enclosure im gunna need when they get way bigger, and how long do they take to get full grown? How long will they get?

If you plan on getting a neonate, a 10 gallon will work but not the 30 (WAY TO BIG FOR THE LITTLE GUY). He will be stressed out probably and will not like all the room especially if you get him from a breeder who keeps them in shoeboxes or what not. The top probably has a screen so you are going to have to keep the humidity in somehow, and certain temps. too that balls do not need. That's why a ball or bci is a great starter snake because of the requirements. Just look into before jumping in that's all. They grow pretty quick when fed right and can probably get it four feet in a couple years or slightly longer. These snakes have minds of their own and let you know it sometimes, if you move fast around him- then he'll move faster and let you know to slow down (with a little WHACK!!). But remember that any ball python is short and fat (like the last kid to kid picked at the playground), and brb's are BEAUTIFUL!!!! I can only do that because this is the rainbow forum baby! Any questions just post them and they will get answered but I don't have any pics of adult cages cuz I have none but MR. PAULBUCK has the most beautiful one I've ever seen and he just might post them for you.

I have been looking into it before I have already bought a auto-mist system for humidity a helix dbs-1000 and a temp gun and im ready to get then, as soon as I find the one I want I wil order it and frozen mice for it. I will stick to the 10 gallon for a while and then ask yall when I should move up. I have already fixed and rigged the humidity part for teh screen top so no worries on that. How long do they get in captivity and how big of a enclosure?

I think they can get up to like 7ft. but most reach five feet pretty quick. The adult cage probably should be like 36x24x24 but if can fit 4ft. then get it. Since these snakes are slender you can probably do a little smaller than 3ft. but I wouldn't want that if I was a snake. Dave from Rainbow-R-Us posted some lengths recently under MORE SIZE INFO but these snakes are older than most so they are bigger than most. Two questions, did you feed a bird to your brb and does your snake seem to like the misting machine? Not from personal experience but I have read that some snakes don't like the vibrations from mostly waterfalls, but does your snake seem to like it (can only make a little noise every so often), just wondering because you can never know to much. Go to top of page 3 on Nov. 14 and look at paulbuck's pics of his enclosure, it makes me sick.

Sorry about the bird part, thought you were BrbRuss for a second. Check out paulbuck's pics, you did post to see adult cages and he has the best looking one that I've seen.

Like said, my largest adult frmale is approaching 7 feet and 9 lbs, still a sweetie but is huge.

I keep mine in probably smaller then most would reccomend but they have tubes to crawl through and added space with a off the floor water bowl. Each section is 2' x 2' x 18" with a sweaterbox damp hide and a 2 gallon flat fishbowl on top. Just recently switched all the heating over to RHP's controlled by Herpstat pro's.

Here are some resally old pics of stack 1 (even had a couple of BP's in one section):

and some newer pics of both (still pre RHP though)

BTW, the last pic is of Petunia, my largest BRB.
