Is it legal to purchase/sell C.b egyptian tortoises here in the united states, I've heard conflicting opinions.
It all depends on if you can prove it you can prove the legality of the parents.
Those that were imported into the US early on were basicly illegal but were imported legally.
If the offspring are the result of confiscated animals there is a legal paper trail. Those are the most legal.
Needless to say, F/W is most likely not going to persue those already in the states because the importation was sketchy to begin with on all sides and there are/were so many. They will most likely NOT issue export permits for those already here.

It's legal. Finding one or being able to afford one if you do is the real problem.
I've got a 4 year old male that I've been trying to find a mate for without having to take out a 2nd mortgage.
I found Males to be cheaper then females. You can find a male for 200-300 dollars, Last year i found one for 300. Never got him though.
For females that a different area, lol. Females are a ton. They are like 600-1000, depending on size.
there is a breeder down here, that sales babies. She has a 1.3 i think. I saw her adults and was amazed, very neat tortoises.
