Does anyone know the record for the oldest and the longest black rat snake? My black rat is currently 16 years old and 8 feet. Thanks

The SSAR occasionally publishes little booklets of longevity records. You could try them.

I don't have a digital but I will see what I can do I've had him since he was a week old. I did have 2 but he ate the other one at a couple of months old. A friend of a frind found a clutch of eggs back in Baltimore, MD. So my friend incubater them and they hatched.

There is a record of a 101" black rat. I don't know the captive age record off hand, but I would guess it is at least in the 20's somewhere. You should be happy about your success with that one. I doubt many people have snakes that old in their collection.

I found on the net 22 years and 11 months. 2 years ago he was 7' 10". I have not measured him since. He's not eating as well as he used to.

Longest recorded is 101 inches.You got a pic of that 8 footer? I'd like to see that bad boy.
My male is 76" and I have had him since oct.2000.He was nearly 6' when I caught him,so I fugure he's pushing 10 years old maybe?Dosen't seem to be gaining length very much.

Mr. Doug Moody (the orignal producer of the albino nelsoni) had a WC black rat that he's had for 20 years & the last time i spoke w/ him about it he said it was 94" and doing great. But that was a few years back.
