Full grown size

grimlin Jan 15, 2007 12:03 PM

Does anyone have any pictures of someone holding a full grown blood? I can't find any and just reading about how big they get doesn't help... I need to see a picture or see it in person. I really want to get one but I need to know what I'll be dealing with when it gets big.

Thanks

You should get a few photos with this request. The picture shown is an adult female Borneo STP (Python breitensteini) compliments of the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, IL. Rob Carmichael is the curator and friend of mine who runs a fantastic place. A must see if in the Chicago area. Lots of venomous and non-venomous herps from all over.

I would say the female in the photo is roughly 25-28lbs and around 5.5ft.

Textbook sizes are not in my opinion valid..I sent Jordan a picture of a 40 pound Borneo female with two people holding her..With captive breeding and feeding of nutrient rich food items animals grow better and bigger..All three races of the old curtus group attain a respectable mass but are not likely to become dangerous for the keeper..They are fat/thick lazy animals that are a joy to keep..I like to look at them as manageable monsters..Again my opinion, they should have replaced
the Burmese and retics years ago..We are coming to an age
where we are creating new colors and pattern types and these
animals should see their hayday yet..
