Chondro bumps

jalex Jan 15, 2007 02:08 PM

I have a tree python that I have had for about a month. He has two bumps/lumps on his body that are about the size of a pea. The bumps have been there since I have gotten him. There is no pus or ooze coming from them so I don’t think there infections, and he eats and drinks on a regular basis. Can anyone tell me what they are, or has anyone experienced this with their tree python?

If you're dealing with a larger animal....from a dealer, it's probably a subcutaneous tapeworm. These are fairly common with larger imports. Usually they do no harm to the animal, but I wouldn't risk putting it with another animal. If they bother you enough to have them removed, a vet can make an incision and remove them from under the skin. If you are keeping just one as a pet, I wouldn't worry too much.
