This cage size ok?

snakesnmore Jan 15, 2007 05:42 PM

I am thinking of getting my 7Ft JCP a new cage. I am thinking of buying one from pvccages.com. The cage measuers 32Lx20Dx24H. Would this be ok or should I look into something bigger. Are there any cage companies out there that will make a cage to specified measurements?

I believe that could work if he does not get any bigger. However, I personally like to include 1 sqare foot of cage space for every foot of snake. That has always been somewhat of my "rule of thumb" if you will.

Thats a nice Jungle btw!

I would not house an adult carpet in any cage smaller than 4x2x2. Some people use 3 foot cages, I don't think it is appropriate though.
Just my 2 cents.

Agree with Ben, that's a bit too small for my taste.

IMO 32x20 is far too little floor space for a 7 ftr. I would go with a min of 48x24. Check the kingsnake classifieds for cage manufacturers, there are some that build custom, but I think you can find what you need in std sizes.

I'd go with boaphile plastics. Pick up a 422D, 4'X2' floor area and 18" height. Black, gray and white are available at no extra cost.

I use boaphiles for all my boas, and they are great. I know Will Leary uses the 422D for his carpets!
