tube feeding recipe

TexasTreeViper Jan 16, 2007 12:03 PM

I was wondering if anybody had any recipes(other than putting mice into a blender) for tube feeding a snake.

What are the needs of the snake? Recent import? Ill, anorexic? Stubborn neonate?

Hill's a/d works for the short term, you may have to water it down to get it through a smaller tube. It's not adequate for use in reptiles long term. Rapture tube diets will be much more adequate, and some reptile diets are available, moreso in the states. Clinicare, ... can't come up with some of the more common names this morning :/ See what your veterinary office has.

ps, here's a cool pic that has absolutely nothing to do with tube feeding, but thought you might enjoy nonetheless

Although a/d and some other dog/cat foods can work I prefer to use a pinky pump. It is basically a syringe that will liquify a thawed pinky which can then be fed trough a tube.
