Today I fed my recently aquired ball python, bodhi, his second live mouse since I have had him and he ate with no trouble. Unfortunately the little mouse was able to bite my snake and actually cause a small amount of bleeding. I watched the entire feeding and after the snake had finished feeding and going to the water dish for a drink I used a cotton swab to apply a diluted soulution of rubbing alcohol and water about a 20% solution because I was worried it could cause pain and then I applied neosporen to the disinfected bite. It has been a few hours since the wound was inflicted and it actually looks much better already. Looks like it only took out a couple of scales. Is there anything else I need to do other than keep the bite clean and keep aplying the antibiotic until it heals? Also, I will be trying to prekill his next meal, the only reason I fed live is because he refused a f/t mouse the first time I fed him, but he hammered a live one. Also, I know that peroxide would have been better than rubbing alcohol but it was all I had at the time so needless to say I havae already been out to buy a bottle. Any suggestions would be very much appriciated.
