Hi all,

Been catching up on posts and a few brought something to mind.

One when is a BRB consider an adult?
Two at what age would I expect to start seeing the hemipenal shed? Do not what to get worried when it happens and I have no idea what it is. LOL

Jeff: He is doing great. NPs with eating or sheding and he has the best personality of all my snakes.

Happy New Year all.
Tamara

Depending on growth rate and individual, they can be sexually active at 2 1/2 years old. That is when you might see a hemipenal shed. In water it looks like an X with very wrinkled surfaces. Out of water it's a thin (2 - 3 mm), long (40 - 80 mm) white, slimey thing. Kind of like a small piece of rolled up shedding from a bad shed but slimey like ejaculate.

I think you would only see one if the male was sexually active (excited) from the presence of a female. At least that's the only time I ever see them.
