Temp question........

LindsayMarie May 20, 2003 11:19 PM

Does anyone here use the temp guns? I believe lllreptile sells them and a few other places. They usually run around 30-40 dollars. I was wondering how accurate they were? It seems like a good idea. Especially with the number of cages I have and feeder bins and not all of the cages basking spots are in areas where its easy to attach a thermometer. The gun you just kind of point in the place you want tested and shoot and its supposed to give you a accurate reading. Whats everyones opinions? Thanks, LM

btw, if I went with temp guns I would check the temps every day

I use a temp gun and I love it. The one I have is a Raytek and I paid around $90 for it a while back at a hobby shop(I also use it for Nitro RC cars). I have found that it is right on with the temps.

They are really nice because you can not only check the temps all around the cage but you can monitor the temps of the reptiles or eggs themsevles.

Oh yeah....check out ebay by doing a search for Raytek.

You can't measure air temp because they measure where the pointer light hits a surface....or have I been misinformed?

Good question! I am not sure? That wouldnt be good if it only took surface temps. I want one that takes both. Anyone know the answer to that question???? Thanks, LM
