Overweight and I donno what to do..

snowcornbabe Jan 17, 2007 12:12 PM

Okay, I don't have a pic for ya yet, but i'm getting to it, i'm actually at school right now lol..

But yea, getting to the point, I have a two year old Albino Striped, for a while now she's just been pretty overweight and i've been doing a lot to get her to loose it, i feed her every other week, sometimes skipping two weeks. I don't want to starve her and then excersise her at the same time. She's just the biggest pig, anyone have any suggestions? I excercise her when I can, but it depends on the horse and homework. Sometimes I can get her out about three times a week.

Any suggestions??? Someone has also told me to fill up my bath about and inch or so, and let her swim around, I have yet to do that do. Also, she needed a new Terrarium, so we got a 'Reptarium', the netted black ones you know, and so hopefully that'll give her a lot of room for when I barely have time.

PICTURE COMMING!!!

well, other than what you are doing now. only feed her 1 mouse a week or everyother week and if you are feeding fuzzies or hoppers they are the most fattening mice to feed.

Sorry, I can't offer any advice about the food.

Why a Reptarium? If it is surrounded by screen, it sounds to me like it wouldn't hold in any heat. Are the temps in the room where you keep the snake up high enough? If the temps are too cool, The snake wouldn't be too active. I'm by no means an expert, but I don't think you'd be able to keep the temps up high enough in that enclosure, but I could be wrong

I wasn't going to say anything, because the poster said he/she had just bought it...but that jumped out at me too, when I read it.

Not only is the question of heat a poblem, but so is humidity. Keeping the substrate from smelling is tough a few days after feeding in any cage, but with a reptarium, it's just unbearable.

I'm not saying it CAN'T work...I just didn't like mine for my snakes. It worked great for bearded dragons, though!
